About Education
Buying Group PSBO

Education Buying Group is a school-led, not-for-profit Public Sector Buying Organisation created to transform procurement for the education sector. Public procurement is complex. Schools and trusts must balance compliance, value for money, risk management and social responsibility – all while focusing on pupils and outcomes.

EBG exists to make that challenge easier.

Why EBG was created

For schools and trusts that need a clear, compliant route to market for their procurement – one that reflects the realities of operating in education.

Too often, schools are forced to:

  • Let contracts roll over due to lack of time or expertise
  • Accept price increases without leverage
  • Manage procurement risk without specialist support

Without coordinated buying power, suppliers have little incentive to offer better pricing, stronger service levels or meaningful social value.

Education Buying Group (EBG) was created to change that.

WHO WE ARE

Launched in 2022, Education Buying Group was formed by a partnership between:

  • Education Buying (part of 2buy2)
  • Churchmarketplace (part of IFM)
  • Three founding Multi-Academy Trusts

Its governance is led by Multi-Academy Trusts, ensuring procurement decisions are shaped by the real needs of the education sector.

The current PSBO Board representation now includes four Trusts:

  • St Bartholomew’s CE Multi-Academy Trust
  • St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust
  • St Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Multi-Academy Trust
  • The Diocese of Westminster Academy Trust
  • 2buy2 (Education Buying)
  • Churchmarketplace

This trust-led structure is what makes EBG different from generic buying organisations.

At the heart of everything we do is:

  • Compliance
  • Value for money
  • Social value
  • Reinvestment back into education
